Breast Cancer & the Non-Toxic Revolution:

Please click to watch this 2 minute video I found. See how you can easily CHOOSE to reduce &/or eliminate your 365 days per year exposure to toxic synthetic chemicals found in household products, as well as other environmental & lifestyle choices, which is thought to be the leading cause of Breast Cancer, asthma, other breathing problems, & so many more dis-eases.

My mother-in-law is a Breast Cancer survivor. I have been following a green path for nearly 12 year, if not more, since becoming a mother. This video explains, exactly, why I joined with OnlyGreen (closed in June 2012) shortly after finding & researching their products & ingredients. They are 100% Natural, Safe, Eco Friendly, & Biodegradable. Free from synthetics, fragrances, dyes, and hormone disrupting ingredients.  I will also admit that I signed up purely to get a discount and shop from home, but it didn’t take long to start making green by going green.

Join the non-toxic revolution!

I would like to thank www.GoodGirlGoneGreen.com for her post. Check out her website. Originally, I found a post she made about “No-Pooing” (eliminating shampoo) & have been hooked on her posts since. Enjoy!

In light of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I wanted to remind you about OG’s partnership with the Canadian Breast Cancer Support Fund (OG is no longer in business) to provide a financial subsidy for breast cancer patients who cannot afford to purchase a wig.

Soy wax candles are completely non-toxic, unlike paraffin wax based candles which emit 11 toxins according to the American Lung Association, 2 of which are known carcinogens. Our candles are made with 100% non-GMO soy and have a burning time of more than 40 hours.

Do you know the Benefits of Mineral Make-Up?

Understanding these benefits of mineral make-up will ease your mind knowing that what you put on is as important as what you put in.

An average woman will absorb 5 lbs of personal care products each year.

Every day, more and more consumers are becoming aware of the impact their beauty products have on their personal health. One of the current hot topics for many women is finding the health benefits in switching to a mineral based cosmetics line. Although most women understand that minerals are healthier to use, they may not fully know why.

So what are the benefits to mineral based cosmetics?

Natural mineral make-up is composed of pure, cosmetic-grade minerals such as mica, titanium oxide, and zinc oxide. They are free from fragrances, animal by-products, talc, fillers, parabens, and binders which are commonly found in ordinary chemical based cosmetics.

Mineral make-up doesn’t support the growth of bacteria, meaning mineral make-up is less likely to become contaminated than other makeup types.
Since many of the minerals also naturally reflect light, they also help aid in minor sun protection and can reduce the appearance of aging. Mineral cosmetics can be a great choice for people with skin allergies and irritations, because it is much gentler than chemical makeup. Mineral make-up provides excellent coverage, which helps to create flawless-looking skin.

At OnlyGreen, we are proud to offer our Opal line of mineral based cosmetics. (IMPORTANT UPDATE:  OnlyGreen  has closed their doors since June 2011 but their supplier was PureAnada Canada and here’s their website: http://www.pureanada.ca/ )

This line has been formulated using all natural ingredients and is made in Canada.

Thanks for reading. Comment’s or questions are welcomed. Thanks & have a Green day, Every day =)

How to keep your cosmetic brushes clean, naturally.

 Eco Tip:

Bacteria free brushes, naturally!

Cleaning makeup brushes is an important task that most women overlook. As
you use your cosmetic brushes, they accumulate not only makeup, but also the oils, dead skin cells and other products that may be on your face. They can also attract dirt and dust particles from the air around them. This can create a happy home for harmful bacteria to grow and thrive. To help keep your cosmetic brushes clean and healthy, you have to remove the buildup on a regular basis. However, doing so naturally can be a bit tricky.
There are a lot of conventional brush cleaners available on the market, but then you are simply replacing the bacteria build-up with a chemical build-up! Using a natural brush cleaning solution is the best way to keep your brushes free and clear of anything! To clean your cosmetic brushes, I recommend using 3 drops of dish soap mixed with 1/2 cup of water & 2-3 drops of essential oil (lemon, orange, &/or tea tree because they all have disinfecting properties), then gently pat them onto a dry microfiber towel and let them sit to air dry. This should be repeated at least once a week in order to maintain the quality and life of your brush set.

My very important tips: NEVER soak your brushes and saturate the tips past the metal or it could ruin your set. Dry your brushes by pressing them back into their natural shape, then placing them over the edge of the counter to avoid the flat effect.
